Hunt’s Cove Loop + Grizzly Peak-Mt. Jefferson Wilderness

Posted by on Jul 21, 2013 in Trail Reports | No Comments

Went out to Mt. Jefferson for a few days to spend some time with new friends and do some off trail investigation into Hunt’s Cove and Shale Lake areas. I discovered some small tarns and meadows above Hunt’s Cove and found two way trail that winded higher to the PCT and great views of Jefferson and the Cathedral Rocks to boot.  The next day I took a side trip up past Coyote Lake on the PCT up to the alpine zone under the Waldo Glacier to try to locate a easy way to The Table on the southeast side of the mountain, but ran out of daylight and energy as the way got steeper and more rugged.  The final day we went down to Pamelia Lake to a bug free camp under the pines and I found some time to get up to Grizzy Peak for views north to Hood and south to the Three Sisters and of course, Mt. Jefferson.
