Gear Closet *Alpha Direct Series*-Superior Fleece’s Burle Rolled Beanie
I was waiting to get my paws on a Powerwool hoodie from these folks because they make tall garments if you ask for them. I’ll do a Gear Closet on this guy when it gets a hike or two under its belt. Anyway, I ordered one of their Alpha 120 beanies for winter travel. The fabric is doubled up for extra durability and warmth which is nice when the snow begins. The hat fits snug on my head with limited puff on the top that makes you look goofy. You can order it with a fixed band or rolled that gives you 4 layers of the Alpha over your ears. I like a warmer hat for hiking so I can wear a thinner shirt and no long johns for winter trips. This is a great way to roll on icy mornings because when it inevitably warms up, you can ditch the without shedding all the bulky layers and putting them back in your pack. This hat has only one seam that runs the length of it which keeps it looking clean. All the sewing work Superior has done is solid and professional. Overall, really nice craftsmanship from this young and up and coming cottage company from Minnesota.
