Gregory Bald

Two scenic ridge lines that empty into one of the best Balds in the Park, sign me up. Take this 16.4 mile loop on for overnighter or even better, stretch it out over a long weekend and soak in the views at Gregory Bald over some tasty morsels with someone special.

Get your moss on!

Either way you slice it, start by driving out to the TH in NC to get this show on the road. Hike up the Twentymile TR. before making a left onto Wolf Ridge. This gentle ridge climbs up to a great camp at #13 before setting up shop and getting some dinner on top of the Bald. Views of Cades Cove with Hannah and Rich Mountains stretching out above the meadows is truly a spectacular sight.

Inversion time

Start out the next day with a quick climb up Gregory and across the open meadows of grass, wood and stone. Continue down to Rich Gap and make the Right onto Long Hungry Ridge Trail. Rye meets Twentymile Creek near the #92 camp where you have two crossings. Settle into a nice night tucked in between these two Creeks in a sweet nook in the woods. The next day, start out with an additional stream crossing before following it downstream. Take a right on the Loop TR. back to your car and a nice cold beer.

Is it a trail or a creek? It’s both… Rye Branch jumping ship.
